The primary objective of the game is to rid your hand of all cards or minimize the count and scores of unmatched cards remaining by creating card sets and runs, discarding cards, and initiating fights.

Players can secure victory through Tongits, after a Fight, or by holding the lowest scores. Tongits also involves strategy, requiring players to steer clear of being Burned or accumulating excessive scores when the central stack is empty.
